Eight reasons why you are getting pimples on your back

Dealing with acne can be frustrating enough since that pesky blemish might come back, but what do you do if other parts of your body, such as your back and shoulders, begin breaking out in bumps too? Why you are getting pimples on your back

If you conceal those facial blemishes using makeup to feel better about your appearance, dealing with bacne may make you feel more self-conscious since this form of acne generally limits your clothing choices. The condition can even make wearing dresses or tank tops a challenge.

1. The skin on your back is particularly prone to acne.

There are three main contributing factors to acne. Overactive oil glands, an overgrowth of acne-causing bacteria, and excess dead skin cells may come together to cause a single significant blemish anywhere on our bodies.

When pores become blocked by excessive amounts of dead skin cells and oily buildup, it leads to more chances for acne-causing bacteria to multiply quickly. “The skin on the lower portions of your back will invariably get clogged simply because your body dips a bit as you move forward,” says Dr. Justine Kluk.

2. The products you use on your hair might be causing you to break out on your back.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the substances in hair and body products can also trigger a breakout. Just like the body’s natural oils can block pores and lead to pimples, the substances in hair and body products can also trigger a breakout.

If you’re using an epilator or waxing your bikini region, be sure to rinse your skin afterward with warm water thoroughly — the hot water will dilate your pores!

And suppose you’re prone to acne outbreaks or blackheads. In that case, it’s essential that you carefully read product labels before applying anything skin-related because all of those advertised claims may not always be what they seem. You want to check for phrases like “won’t clog pores,” “non-comedogenic,” and “non-acnegenic.”

3. Not showering promptly after a sweaty gym session might be causing back pimples.

It’s at times tempting to skip taking a shower after going to the gym and head home instead of staying for a few extra minutes under the warm water. However, choosing that option may cause issues related to your skin.

Tricia Narwani from Style Caster suggested keeping your underwear on after exercising to keep those shoulder-blade or back-related pimples from itching or scratching, which could leave you with some seriously ugly scars in the long run.

Don’t delay showering after any situation that gets you hot and sweaty, including a sweltering day at the beach or even going for a quick jog around the neighborhood.

4. And don’t let your workout clothes go too long between washes.

Keeping your workout gear clean can be a real chore for fitness fans. Washing sports bras and gym shorts after every session can become a time-consuming routine! But before you hang your favorite t-shirt back in the closet, remember that body acne (or “bacne”) is very common and linked to using the same dirty, sweaty shirts to go to the gym more than once.

A recent study by The Academy of Dermatology advised that washing your workout clothes after each round of exercise is a good way to keep acne-causing bacteria and grime out of your pores.

This is because you sweat during an intense workout and transfer unwanted bacteria onto the fabric of your clothing which then gets brought back on your skin if you fail to clean it off. Don’t let the social aspect of working out get in the way of clear skin!

5. Tight clothing or a heavy backpack could also be the culprit.

Some items can cause acne breakouts like backpacks, sports equipment, and purse straps. They are some of the many triggers that require you to check the sensitive skin on your back.

This type of acne is called Back Acne (Alpha Type). Back Acne occurs when friction and tight clothing mix with moisture. Things such as sweat dribble can pad the skin; this is not just an annoyance, but it can also lead to a more serious form of inflammation.

Daily sunscreen use is a must for protecting yourself from damaging sun rays which can lead to premature aging or, worse, skin cancer. It’s especially important to cover those often forgotten-about spots like the back when applying your sun protection – otherwise, risk zits!

7. If your diet is full of carbohydrates and dairy, your skin might be paying the price.

It’s clear that diet plays a part in a person’s physical health, but acne is also tied to an individual’s health. Dermatologists agree that high glycemic index foods are aggravating factors in the cause of acne flare-ups.

Carbohydrates like white bread, chips, and white potatoes produce a rapid increase in blood sugar levels, leading to breakouts. Why you are getting pimples on your back. 8. Hormones or stress might also be at the root of your back acne woes.

The lack of estrogen brought on by your menstrual cycle might also exacerbate acne.
